Getting started
Run Minutd with Docker Compose, finish the setup wizard and record your first meeting.
Minutd is pre-release. There is no tagged version and no published image yet, so parts of this guide describe the intended flow. The status page says what works today.
What you need
- A machine that runs Docker with the Compose plugin. See sizing for how much it needs.
- A way to reach the web UI from your browser, ideally behind HTTPS on a hostname you control. Calendar sign-in needs it.
- Optional: your own Google OAuth client and Azure app registration, if you want calendar auto-join. Pasting a meeting link needs neither.
- Optional: a key for a transcription or summary provider. Local transcription needs none.
Start it
curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dennisklappe/minutd/main/compose.yaml
export MINUTD_SECRET="$(openssl rand -hex 32)"
docker compose pull
docker compose up -d
MINUTD_SECRET encrypts the keys and OAuth tokens Minutd stores. Keep it somewhere safe: without it the stored secrets cannot be read, and changing it makes them unreadable. Put it in an .env file next to compose.yaml so it survives restarts.
The compose file lists the published port of the web container. Open that address in a browser.
Setup wizard
- Set the admin password. It is the only account in v0.1.
- Choose a transcription provider. Local needs no key. For a hosted one, paste the key and press Test.
- Optionally choose a summary provider. The default is none.
- Optionally connect a calendar. The wizard shows the exact redirect URI to register, and the guides for Google and Azure say where it goes.
Every choice can be changed later in Settings.
Record a meeting
Paste a Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link into the Join now box. The bot opens the link as a guest called Minutd Notetaker and waits in the lobby, so admit it from the meeting. When the meeting ends it merges the audio, transcribes it and shows the transcript on the meeting page.
If the bot does not get in, the meeting status says why. See troubleshooting.
Before you record
Tell people. Read consent and legal notes first.
