What a supporter key changes, how it is checked, and why you can remove the check.
Minutd is free and every feature works without a key. A supporter key is a one-time $10 way to support the project, and it changes how the bot presents itself.
Free
- The bot joins as
Minutd Notetaker. - It shows a branded camera tile with minutd.com.
- Its default join chat message mentions Minutd.
With a supporter key
- Set your own bot name, camera image and join message.
- No Minutd branding in your meetings.
How it works
The key is an Ed25519 signed token. Minutd verifies it offline with a public key built into the app. There is no licence server, no activation and no network request. Nothing is sent anywhere when you enter or use a key.
Honest notes
- Minutd is licensed AGPL-3.0, and so is the code that checks the key. It is a small module and you are free to remove it and run your own build.
- This is a supporter unlock, not DRM. It does not try to stop you, it just gives people who want to support the work something concrete.
- Supporting is optional and appreciated. Keys fund the time that goes into keeping Meet and Teams support working.
Using a key
Open Settings, Bot, paste the key and save. The custom fields become editable. If the key is invalid, the settings page says why and the bot keeps using the defaults.
